July 18th Rafting and sightseeing in Mureck
Drucken

We had our second choir rehearsal on this day and had learnt two songs, whereas one of them is a Slovenian song termed „Rasti rozmann“. Actually, it is really nice but still a bit difficult for everybody as the lyrics are not in English, so we had to learn how to pronounce these words. After lunch, we joined a boat trip on the river Mur. I think most of the campers (who did not read the camp schedule) expected that this trip should be relaxing like having a big boat to sit on and to enjoy the landscape and atmosphere. However, the boat trip did not meet our expectations, as it was not relaxing at all. We needed to use the paddle to row the boat by ourselves! We were separated into three groups with one boat each; two small ones and one bigger boat. Those who were on the small boats had the chance to swim in the river and I think they really loved it. All of us had lots of fun on this boat trip, paddling with strong power and enjoying the beautiful scenery of both the countries Austria and Slovenia. The boat trip started in a village called Oberschwarza and we aimed to reach the famous Murecker Schiffsmühle, an ancient mill, by boat – which we actually managed to do very well. Spending more than one hour on the boat brought lots of unforgettable memories of this camp. At the same evening, we also had a campfire close to our accommodation. At first, René, Chris and other members from the camp staff put the fire on and then we started to chill and have fun. Even though there were neither sausages nor marshmallows to be grilled (because we already had dinner before at the Schiffsmühle), it was very nice. Rude came along and brought some guitars with him, as well as books with popular songs. Next to the fire it was warm and cosy, so we started to play the instruments and sing together. I really don’t know what else to write, but I am very serious while saying it was one of the nicest evenings of my life.
